Summary/Abstract: Petar Đorđić (Tuzla 1904 – Belgrade 1989), a recognized and respected Serbian Paleo-Slavist, began his long-term and fruitful university teaching and scientific career at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in 1934 as a lecturer in Church Slavonic and Russian, where he taught more than a decade. Although he left behind works of exceptional value for Serbian linguistics and Paleo-Slavistics, such as the monograph History of Serbian Cyrillic (1971), the textbook Old Slavonic Language (1975), an excellent textbook of the Russian language Russian in 100 hours: Introductionto the Russian language (1940), as well as a large number of articles published in domestic and foreign journals, the work of Petar Đorđić has not received a complete monographic treatment. The subject of our paper is the analysis of his introductory lecture for the beginning of teaching work at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology and election to the scientific-educational title of assistant professor, entitled On Vukov’s New Testament, which was published in the journal Bogoslovlje.
