Summary/Abstract: The seminar "Lev Prchala – A Hero Defamed and Forgotten," organized by the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, commemorated the 60th anniversary of the death of Czechoslovak General Lev Prchala. The event highlighted Prchala's military career, his role in the anti-communist resistance, and the unjust treatment he received post-WWII. Prchala's contributions during WWI, his leadership in the Czechoslovak legions, and his opposition to the Munich Agreement were discussed. The seminar also covered his political activism in exile, his efforts to establish the Czech National Committee in London, and his opposition to the communist regime. Despite his significant contributions, Prchala was stripped of his rank and labeled a traitor by the post-war government, a status that persisted even after the fall of communism. The seminar aimed to restore Prchala's rightful place in history and acknowledge his efforts for Czech freedom and culture.
