Summary/Abstract: The article contains a discussion of the account left by Prussian General Gustav von Rauch concerning the inspection of Russian fortifications, carried out at the invitation of Tsar Nicholas I in October 1835. The visit was a manifestation of the close Prussian-Russian cooperation directed against the Poles at that time. Its record contributes to the analysis of the relations between the two countries, the ways in which the Prussian army obtained information, and the perception of the military situation in Polish lands by the Prussian army after the failed November Uprising.
