Summary/Abstract: The symposium aims to present the latest trends and research on young people’s mental resources, coping strategies, and resilience as determinants of well-being, essential to good quality of life and mental health. Factors connected to personality resilience and flexibility, as well as those associated with greater vulnerability, influence mental functioning during sensitive developmental periods such as the “Emerging Adulthood” (ages 18-29). Demographic differences, mental health beliefs and individual adaptive capacity influence the experience of well-being, satisfaction and self-efficacy and affect young people’s choices and behaviors. Differences in self-experience affect social inclusion, as well as community engagement. The focus of the symposium is the psychological and social determinants of young people’s mental health and well-being, and the development of a multidimensional model for assessing risk and resilience in the light of global processes related to the functioning of young people in the current conditions of psychosocial challenges of adaptation and coping with crisis that can serve as a basis for social problem solving, and in the development of support strategies and prevention and intervention programs within mental health services.
