Summary/Abstract: This paper contains a study of the reasons for the separation of the Dorostolo-Cherven diocese into two separate dioceses—Dorostol and Cherven. This act was approved at the Fifth Church Council, held on 17 December 2001. Individual moments, as well as the process itself, are followed. The voting process itself is also the subject of presentation, focusing on the way members of the Holy Synod vote. The exhibition also includes a brief background related to the fact that the two dioceses were divided in a previous period and subsequently united, which was carried out on 30 April 1871 by a Church Council. Attention is paid to the general spiritual life that lasted in the period 1871–2001. In the report, the delegates are listed by name, and their reasons for fermenting for the separation of an independent Dorostol Diocese with headquarters in the city of Silistra are also presented. At the moment, it contains two spiritual districts: Dulovo and Tervel. The Cherven Diocese is named Rusenska, is headquartered in the city of Ruse, and includes four spiritual districts: Ruse, Razgrad, Tutrakan, and Popovo.
