The participation of the Bulgarian army in the liberation of Skopje in 1944

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the participation of the Bulgarian Army in the final stage of the Second World War and, in particular, its role in the liberation of Skopje. The occasion for its writing is both the 80th anniversary of this event and the desire to make a more objective and fair assessment of the contribution of the Bulgarian Army in the defeat of the Third Reich. Various archival documents – Bulgarian, German and Yugoslav – were used for the purpose of the research, as well as information from third parties – publications in the press, reports and others.
