CONSIDERATIONS ON THE INTERETHNIC CONFLICT BETWEEN THE TURKISH STATE AND THE KURD MINORITY

Summary/Abstract: This material briefly traces the epic and historical thread of the inter-ethnic conflict between Turkey and its largest minority - the Kurds, within its borders, focusing on the factors that constantly fuel it. At the same time, it captures the recent events that characterize it, and outlines some possible methods that would contribute to its alleviation, and why not, its solution. A special importance is given to the efforts made by the Kurdish community in order to obtain their due rights, by involving pro-Kurdish organizations and parties on the political scene, which would militate for the democratization of the Turkish political system, context in which the minorities' wishes would be heard and solved. On the other hand, it tries to capture the democratic shortcomings and deficiencies of the Ankara regime, which is spasmodically struggling in the remeniscences of authoritarianism, promoting its almost Mephistophelian - vain policy of homo genizing the identity of minorities. After all, given the depth and the multitude of implications that the subject under analysis has at the historiographical level, the present text offers an overview, and at the same time, a potential track for further thematic research.
