Summary/Abstract: The outbreak of COVID-19 has had a strong impact on people’s lives around the world, prompting countries to come up with response strategies. Currently, in Japan, there are many Vietnamese workers living and working, most of whom are trainees. In fact, at receiving facilities, trainees often do simple work known as 3D jobs (dangerous, difficult, and dirty). In the context of the impact of the Coronavirus disease, this group of Vietnamese workers is affected in many aspects of life. First of all, the business environment is deteriorating, leading to job instability, income reduction, and even job loss. All these also affect the quality of life. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Japan has tightened border control, and airline companies have stopped working, making it impossible for many workers to return to Vietnam. The virus also affects the mental health of Vietnamese workers. The article analyses and assesses the difficulties of Vietnamese trainees in Japan in the context of COVID-19.
