Summary/Abstract: Located over 2 km into the Black sea, the massif known today as Kaliakra is one of the most impressive areas of the Dobrudzha plateau. The “beautiful land”, as it is referred to in written sources, is a centre of attraction and a starting point for sea faring in the contact zone between the Black Sea and the Danube. Thanks to these natural resources, Kaliakra as the capital of Dobrotitsa played an important role in the political struggles between Venice and Genoa to gain control over the western Black Sea coast. Precisely because Kaliakra was continually inhabited in the 14th century, some data on the earlier periods remained on the periphery of published research for the past 57 years. Therefore, it is time to present some situations and findings related to the time of the First Bulgarian Kingdom. A yurt-like dwelling, a grave, appliqués, belts and bronze vessels stand out. All of them have a common dating, 8th–10th centuries, and they shall be published in more detail shortly.
