Summary/Abstract: This article examines texts by various individuals and organizations created in October–November 1940 expressing disagreement with the Bill for the Protection of the Nation Act in the background of the concept of the shared society. Applying that concept to this context, discloses the potential of a cohesive society to uphold basic constitutional principles and prevent state institutions from pursuing repressive policies.
