Summary/Abstract: The widow of Virgil Madgearu and relative of Ion Mihalache's wife, Niculina, member of the National Peasant Party since 1932, Ecaterina Madgearu was involved in the activity of helping members of this party who had been arrested by the communist authorities. She led a special committee created to help the arrested people and that allowed her to visited them in prisons and to facilitate their connections and communications with those from outside of prison. She also coordinated the activity of helping the families of those imprisoned with food, clothing and medicine. For these actions, Ecaterina Madgearu was pursued by the Security bodies and became the victim of repeated repressive measures, obviously related to the charitable activity she carried outfor the benefit of political prisoners and their families.
