Summary/Abstract: The emigration phenomenon generates long-term positive as well as negative effects for the Romanian economy and society. This paper presents the main theoretical syntheses concerning the consequences of emigration in Romania, and constitutes part of the study carried out within stage I of the research project “Functional Model of Estimation of the Real Volume of Labour Available in the Rural Environment”.
