Summary/Abstract: In a fiction or non-fiction text, the dialogue and the dialogues also trigger a whole series of phenomena, as they are always supposed to bring about a certain progress at the discursive level, at the thought level or at the level of the interlocutors’ logos. Consequently, they are liable to ensure the passage from a conscience that is sometimes subject to contingencies to a more enlightened, if not emancipated conscience. Any dialogue presupposes a logical sequence of lines, and the transition from one line to another can be made in different ways: when one participant cuts another off, this phenomenon is called an interruption and is graphically translated by three dots (...); when the interlocutor changes the subject, there is a refusal to reply. Word sequencing involves the repetition of the words and expressions used by one character/speaker by a second character/speaker. Finally, idea sequencing is done by picking up on a theme initiated by one character and developed by another. Dialogue as a representation takes different forms depending on the type of text in which it appears.
