Summary/Abstract: Christian symbolism is permanently present in Rasho Rashev's research. He examined signs, drawings, symbols and their place in early medieval Bulgarian culture. The researcher considered the specific archaeological environment from which the monuments originate. He has reached important conclusions about their dating, origin and semantic meaning. Based on his erudition, field and theoretical knowledge, Rasho Rashev successfully refuted a priori imposed theories regarding the so-called signs of “Proto-Bulgarian culture”.
