Summary/Abstract: The article deals with integrative palliative care in the context of hospital chaplaincy and reflects on certain topics relevant to hospital chaplaincy which integrative palliative care brings. These include, for example, alternative medicine and spirituality, or alternative spirituality in patient care. The article also deals with the essence of Christian spiritual care and Christian identity in the non believing and alternative faith environment. The inspiration here can be the experience of exile and diaspora of the people of the Old Testament, as described by the pastoral theologian Rolf Zerfaß.
