Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the residential areas of the Pisidian city of Sia in the context of the Late Republican and Early Imperial periods, focusing on the use of courtyards and their impact on the cultural identity of the Sia community. First, a theoretical framework of culture, identity, and housing is explained. Following an overview of Sia and Pisidia’s histories, the Roman concept of courtyard housing is assessed. Finally, the socio-cultural and political changes in Sia society are evaluated by examining the distribution of residential areas within the settlement and the specific use of courtyards in Roman housing in the city. These evaluations are based on the architectural data extracted from Thurstan Robinson’s doctoral dissertation by integrating the most recent settlement map.
