Summary/Abstract: Kriterion Publishing House was founded at the end of 1969 with the aim of publishing books in the languages of minorities living in Romania, and during the communist period it became the largest publishing house in the country having this mission. One of the publishing house's priorities was to promote intercultural dialogue and facilitate cultural exchange between Romanians, Hungarians and Germans by translating literary works written in one of these languages into the other two. Tímea Ferencz's book "Kriterion Publishing House and the Kriterion-Hefte book series", which is the subject of this review, describes the work of Kriterion Publishing House from 1970 until the change of regime in 1989, with a special focus on the German department. This volume also provides a detailed review of the German-language books published by this publishing house and analyzes the "Kriterion-Hefte" series.
