Coloronyms in the cycle “The epic of the forgotten” by Ivan Vazov

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the consideration of coloronyms and their role in the cycle “Epic of the Forgotten” by the famous Bulgarian writer Ivan Vazov. In the considered cycle of poems there are achromatic and chromatic colors, as well as colors of a mixed spectrum. It is concluded that the color picture of the world of the cycle “Epic of the Forgotten” by Ivan Vazov can be called chromatic-achromatic, the key colors are red and black, and the color picture of the world is created through lexemes of blood, smoke, flame, spark, etc. It is noted that coloronyms in Ivan Vazov's cycle “Epic of the Forgotten” perform various functions: they describe a person, various objects, nature, animals, locations, often color designations are used in figurative meanings.
