Summary/Abstract: Abstract In this study, we will present some of the contacts between Turkish and Albanian, and the borrowed words in this regard. The relations between Turks and Albanians began with the movement of Turkish tribes across the Adriatic Sea to the Balkans. Thus, contact was also made with other peoples of the Balkans. However, intensive relations were during the Ottoman period. The coexistence of Albanians, when the majority of them shared the same religion as the Turks, Islam, led to the rapid increase in the number of Turkish borrowed words in the Albanian language. During this period, we have words such as arabaxhi, ashqi, avxhi, amanetxhi, hizmetxhi, tenxhere, teneqexhi, etc. Many Turkish words related to fundamental culture, social life, such as professions, concepts, kinship, food, and clothing, began to be widely used among the Albanian people. In this context, the well-known orientalist, Tahir Dizdari, during his research, noticed around five thousand borrowed Turkish (oriental)words in the Albanian language. This study focuses on the studies and written works of local and foreign scholars on borrowed words from Turkish into Albanian. Therefore, the treated topic, “Borrowed words from Turkish into Albanian,” we believe will contribute to the field of Turkology, history, and linguistics.
