Summary/Abstract: The theory of traumatic experiences is one of the most relevant in modern psychology. Although the concept of “trauma” is broadly defined, leading experts on the subject unanimously point to several mandatory factors in the biography. When these are combined with a certain type of personality disorder, we have some good criminal predictors. The paper examines this particular interrelationship between traumatic childhood events and their impact on individuals with proven psychopathic personality disorder. Various cases of criminals who displayed extreme aggression and sadism in their crimes and the connection to the traumatic childhood they had are examined. Cases have also been described of individuals who have psychopathic tendencies but have not experienced traumatic events at an early age. This significant difference affects both social and private life, as well as the type and extent of illegal acts committed. The need to use the right psychodiagnostic tools, which should be standardized, reliable and easily applicable, both in clinical practice and in different social fields, is discussed.
