Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to provide an overview of Silviu Dragomir’s life and scholarly work, from his early studies in Blaj (Blasendorf, Balázsfalva) and Novi Sad to his university education in Cernăuți (Chernivtsi, Czernowiz) and Vienna, continuing with the major moments in his scholarly activity, with a special focus on the persecutions suffered under the communist regime. This is followed by a brief introduction to his writings dealing with Avram Iancu and the Revolution of 1848–1849.
