Summary/Abstract: Our study focuses on several aspects of the material culture in the village of Fughiu, Bihor County, Romania. Field research was conducted in the setting and State Archives of Oradea, revealing a huge documentary material, as well as valuable ideas stored in the collective mind of the inhabitants of Fughiu village, that is, in the memory of those silent witnesses of history who remained captive to orality. The first part of our study deals with the great occupations of the village world, agriculture and animal husbandry, as indicated by documents as well as by the interviews with the villagers. Its second part exemplifies secondary occupations, i.e., household crafts, each with its own particularities.
