Summary/Abstract: According to the creator of the method, Prof. Dr. N. Shipkovenski, liberating psychotherapy is interaction between doctor and patient, which gives rise to strong constructive mental influences and which excludes iatrogenic pressure on the body and soul of the patient. The approach relied on awareness of the relationship between the somatic and the mental long before the psychology approach was established in psychotherapy, and on the inclusion of context in therapeutic work long before the spread of systemic psychotherapy. And while in his professional practice on liberating psychotherapy Prof. Shipkovenski remains in the field of medicine, we ask ourselves whether this method is not the only complete and coherent Bulgarian experience to develop a full-fledged and independent psychotherapy modality.
