Summary/Abstract: The Polish virtuoso violinist Stanislaw Serwaczynski (1790–1859) has notgained yet his well-deserved place in the history of music. The aim of this articleis to present some hitherto unknown facts relating to his life and soloist career,as well as to his accomplishments as a teacher of violin. His contemporariesconsidered Serwaczyński as an excellent violinist and an esteemed composer,as well as a man of exceptional integrity who manifested endearing charactertraits. His colleagues and competitors respected him, and he was adored by hisaudiences and students. Like other eminent musicians of the time when Polandwas deprived of statehood, he fell into oblivion in free Poland.
