Summary/Abstract: The folk song „Slept to a maiden – woke up to a cold stone“ (403 variants) is a specific plot-motive realization of the theme „The boy finds a sleeping maiden“. The analysis of the common places (imagery, action, and lines of the boy and the girl, topos of time and space) outlines an invariant text with a mytho-ritual application, which is the work of a shamanic-type priest. He describes his initiation (initiation) into a cult center (shrine) where he spends the night in an oneiric trance beside a stone boulder with female characteristics. After the ritual, the priest-shaman is not only the Poet and Singer, but also the main actor in his text. The vacillation of dream and reality ensures a long life of the already created text long after the Christianization of Old Bulgarian paganism.
