Summary/Abstract: There is a common thread in the practice of commemorating death or the thought of death that runs from Platonic philosophy to the teachings of the Holy Fathers. Based on the research conducted, it has been concluded that the practice of thinking about death serves to internally unify the philosopher, and that the ascetic, who assumes the patristic teaching, has the role of making him responsible as a hypostasis, distancing him from the status of an individual to that of a person. The study also presents the difference between ἐπιστροφή (epistrofi) and μετάνοια (metanoia).
