Summary/Abstract: The article presents a critique of the “Charter on the role of parliaments in the functioning of liberal democracy”, which is a document prepared for the Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of the European Union. The document, as a political declaration, does not have a normative nature. According to the author, the Charter is characterized by a poor concreteness, and the formulations contained in the act are general, vague and do not contribute much to the debate on the role of national parliaments in the European Union.
