Summary/Abstract: The Institut Notre Dame de Sion in Galati was an imposing building on Calea Domnească. This building belonged to this monastic order in France, where the sisters took care of the girls from the city area, whether they were more needy or wealthy. Today, in this building, there are various faculties that are part of the University of „Dunarea de Jos”in Galati. The idea of presenting this building is significant for the local community, but also for the international one, because the Congregation of Notre Dame de Sion was spread in various corners of the world. It was based in Galati and Iasi, where young girls received an education that was different from the normal schools of the time. In a multicultural area like the city of Galati, a portofranco area, the Roman‑Catholic religion was felt in a particular way, through education or benefactions. The Institute of Notre Dame de Sion in Galati was subordinate to the local bishop as well as to the Catholic church near the building.
