Summary/Abstract: The summary presentation of the role played by the two holy hierarchs - Metropolitan Petru Movilă and Metropolitan Varlaam - in the defense of Orthodoxy, in the 17th century, attacked by Roman Catholic and Calvinist proselytism, we can affirm that they were with true some people, who proved to be truly providential. God justifies us to say that we are dealing with two lovers of faith and zealous in fulfilling their duties as pastors of the two Churches.Through their contribution, the two holy metropolitans will establish themselves as true ʻmilestonesʼ in the defense of Orthodoxy, beyond which no proselytizing attempt from the other denominations will be able to pass. With all the efforts of the Habsburgs to abolish - through the union in Transylvania - the Orthodox Church of the Romanians, this, after many humiliations (over a century and a half), will be reborn. This fact was possible thanks to this lasting foundation that these true leaders of the struggle for the defense of the right faith laid in such a turbulent age as the 17th century.
