Summary/Abstract: New Testament exegetes believe that the list of participles in Ephesians 5:19-21, which express the reality of the filling of the Holy Spirit, is not exhaustive, but those used in the text by the Apostle Paul are vital actions for the life of Christians. The problem analysed by biblical exegetes is related to the ambiguity of participles: Do participles indicate the result of the filling of the Holy Spirit? Can these participles be translated with imperatives (speak, sing, give thanks, obey)? Could these participles be secondary circumstances so that verbs would not depend on the action of the filling of the Holy Spirit? Or are these participles the instruments by which the filling of the Holy Spirit is accomplished? The presentation will analyse the possible interpretative solutions to these questions.
