Summary/Abstract: In carefully chosen images and metaphors, very much of biblical inspiration, the hymnographic text of the Matins service continues the presentation of the bright face of the Holy Great Martyr John the New from Suceava, emphasizing, evennow, the virtues that could be a model for any Christian, from any age: faithfulness to God regardless of circumstances, hope in divine promise, courage, wisdom, self-denial and patience. The hymnography imagines an exciting, polarizing, non-negotiating dialogue, on firm positions, between the martyr John and thee parchy of the White Citadel; in the face of promises, respectively threats, from him, the answer of the martyr is a trenchant one: nothing can induce him to renounce the One who loves him, called him, and to whom he feel stores pond with the same feeling of love. Especially in theeighth ode of the canon, it is reiterated that, through martyrdom, the saint associates himself with there demptive sacrifice of Christ; in a way, through him, through the saint capable of takingh is love for God to the point of sacrifice, Christ ՙfulfills՚ Himself, sees His sacrifice on the Cross incarnated, concretized, fruitful, which honors the human nature of the martyr, capable of resisting, by working together with grace, in the face of in human supplications. Just as in the Vespers service, here too the ideas that claim that theՙnew՚ martyr John is not from a secondary category of holy martyrs are resumed; John becomes solidary with them in confession and passion, and the glorified martyrs - to whom the angels are also associated - assist the ՙnew՚, theՙrecent՚, in an empathetic and concrete manifestation, a symptom of the dynamic work of the power of holiness and after death.
