The European Parliament and the Polish Question: Some Remarks in the Aftermath of 2014 Elections

Summary/Abstract: The article contains a bunch of remarks about significance of the 2014 European elections for the domestic political stage in Poland. A distinction is made between “the Polish stake” and “the European stake” in the elections while the first one should be considered much easier to grasp. It does not follow that crisis tendencies in the European institutions have no impact on the positions taken by the crucial political players in the campaign. Certainly, however, what we see first and foremost is the continual rivalry between the two main political forces, and yet the prevalence of the ruling party we have observed up to now may finally become less obvious just because of the new challenges that Europe as a whole is bound to meet.
