Summary/Abstract: Nowadays there is a change in the mentality of society, the growth of information and culture. These processes necessitate the development of intellectual abilities. In elementary school the basic mental functions of personality (attention, perception, memory, imagination, thinking, speech) are most intensively developed, its tasks are revealed, intellectual qualities are formed, and intellectual abilities are developed. The article presents some aspects of improving the intellectual abilities of junior schoolchildren, as well as methods of identifying the levels of intellectual abilities. The results of application of the system of specially organized classes for the purpose of development of intellectual ability of pupils are presented.
