Summary/Abstract: Algeria participates in the exports and imports of global value chains. The study provides an in-depth analysis of Algeria’s global value chain trade and trade openness. The investigation was conducted using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model, covering 1988 to 2022. The results show that both exports and imports of global value chains had a positive impact and were positively associated with long-term trade openness. However, in the short term, imports of global value chains had a negative impact and were inversely related to trade openness. The broader participation of Algeria in global value chain trade could be a potential driver for productivity growth, vertical specialization, and access to new markets.
