Summary/Abstract: On the request of the city of Banská Bystrica, field research was carried out among foreigners in the city and the degree of their integration was evaluated. Experiences and differences of two different groups are compared: immigrants who are in Slovakia voluntarily for various reasons (immigrants) and those who left Ukraine as a result of the war (displaced people). In addition to focusing on integration, this research is linked to community interpreting, without which the integration process would not have been possible. Despite its importance, it is not given enough attention in Slovak society. The primary elements of integration have been drawn (finding accommodation, working or studying, Slovak language proficiency at B1 level or above) from an official document of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic. Secondary elements (feeling accepted, safe and the feeling of finding a new home) were determined at our discretion. According to these elements the level of integration is assessed at the end of the study.
