Summary/Abstract: This exploration of etymologies derived from Greek mythology is an attempt to gain some insight into language borrowing from the lexicon of the divine. Because of the anthropomorphic manifestations of the mythological gods, the English gallery of Greek loan-words provides portraits not only of ourselves, but of our gendered selves.
