Summary/Abstract: Recidivism, or criminal relapse, represents a socially dangerous phenomenon that is reflected in the repeated commission of criminal offenses. This phenomenon is also the best indicator of the success of criminal law in preventing and suppressing crime. What is more dangerous than the usual relapse is the relapse that involves committing the criminal offense of homicide. Preventing and suppressing these extremely dangerous phenomena is the obligation of every modern society. However, many studies indicate that this is not an easy task. The author of this empirical work sheds light on the prevalence of these phenomena in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity of FB&H. By presenting data on relapse among perpetrators of homicide, the author underscores the urgency of the situation and urges the academic community to take proactive measures, given the invaluable nature of human life. By pointing out the specific characteristics of relapse, the author also presents possible causes of criminal relapse, as well as the need to reconsider current legal “solutions” when it comes to suppressing recidivism.
