Summary/Abstract: Given the growing trend towards flexible working hours, working from locations other than the employer's place of work, organizing working time in such a way as to strike a balance between personal and professional life, it is clear that in the future we will not return to the classic 8-hour/day and 40-hour/week working week, with an overwhelming proportion of workers working an even daily distribution, and there is a need to regulate in a uniform way the way in which wage and social security rights are established in the current context. This article aims to draw attention to the need to adapt labour and social security legislation to the current reality. Specificities arising in practice related to: • where working hours are uneven, with employees not working to a uniform daily schedule; • mixing hours worked with other types of hours in the same working day; • situations where employees work part-time on fewer working days and with different working hours from one day to the next makes it necessary to carefully analyse these situations and the related legislation, bearing in mind that some entitlements are determined on the basis of days and others on the basis of hours.
