Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to present Nicolo Sagundino's information on the history of the Ottomans from their origins to the middle of the 15th century. Sagundino is of Greek descent, but his life is connected with the politics and diplomacy of Venice. A translator and diplomat, Sagundino took part in the first Venetian mission after the fall of Constantinople under Ottoman rule in 1453. He became the first European to give first-hand information about the appearance and character of Mehmed II the Conqueror.
