Summary/Abstract: Ivan Dochev Kisiov is a Bulgarian activist, head of the Directorate „Museums“ at the Ministry of Culture for decades. During the period of his administration, a number of legal and sub-law changes were made, which marked the beginning of new reforms for the development and modernization of museums in Bulgaria. In this presentation, I will highlight the expansion of the museum network in the country. I will make a general overview of the transformation of museums into major cultural centers in the second half of the 20th century.
