Summary/Abstract: The report examines the establishment of political control over the army after 9 September 1944 in the face of the established assistant commanders’ institute, which was a duplicate structure in the hierarchy of the Bulgarian army. The establishment of political control over the armed forces was an important part of the transformation of the Bulgarian army after 9 September 1944 along Soviet lines. In this respect, the Soviet model was not just followed but directly implemented.
