Summary/Abstract: The article delves into an innovative subject matter positioned at the nexus of Blockchain technology and Romanian civil law, focusing on the legal complexity engendered by Smart Contracts executed by minors within the online realm. Although ostensibly removed from the traditional concerns of Family Law, this piece investigates the challenges and legal ramifications of such “contracts” under Romanian legislation. It offers an in-depth examination of minors’ capacity to enter into Smart Contracts, accentuating the distinctions from traditional contracts and the imperative for a legal framework that is attuned to the new technological realities. The goal is to present a broad informational overview of Blockchain technology and the operational mechanisms of Smart Contracts, thereby aiding the comprehension of their legal consequences when engaged by minors.
