Summary/Abstract: The Great Seljuk State, which lived its second imperial period with Sultan Sencer (1118-1157) after the throne fights, recovered in a short time after the Katvan defeat in 1141 and regained its former power. However, in 1153, as a result of the rebellion of the Oghuz people who were loyal to them and the fall of the sultan, the magnificent state entered the process of disintegration. The fact that Mahmud Khan, a descendant of the Karakhanid lineage, took over the headless state after Sultan Sencer was captured was not a solution either. Although he carried out military operations against the Oghuzs, he was not successful. Another statesman who made an effort to save Sultan Sencer was Harezmaşah Atsız. However, his efforts were entirely for show. It is noteworthy that Atsız could not attempt any rebellion even though he had the opportunity. The most important reason for this is that they do not have the power to fight against the Oghuzs. That's why he chose to remain loyal to the Great Seljuk State. Sultan Sencer, who was saved from the Oghuzs with a surprise development in 1156, ascended to the throne again. He then took action to revive his state, which was about to collapse, but he failed. Following the death of Khwarezmshah Atsiz in 1156, Il-Arslan ascended to the throne of Khwarezm with the approval of Sultan Sencer. In our article, we will discuss the emergence of Il-Arslan as Khwarezmshah, the events that took place in Khorasan after the death of Sultan Sanjar and his diplomatic relations with the Great Seljuk State. We believe that this study we have conducted will be useful for researchers working in the field of Khwarezmshahs.
