Summary/Abstract: The Ottoman navy became one of the leading navies of the Mediterranean and Europe since the second half of the 15th century, and this situation continued until the 20th century. However, since limited research has been done on the numerical size of the Ottoman navy, it has not been possible to compare this navy with others on an accurate basis for most periods. In this research, a comparison attempt was made by identifying all sailing warships that entered the inventory of the Ottoman Navy between 1770 and 1790. In five-year periods, the size of the Ottoman navy and its ship acquisition potential were revealed. Ottoman ships, known in detail, have been compared with the sailing ships of European navies. The period between 1770 and 1790, during which Algerian Gazi Hasan Pasha was the captain pasha, was also a period in which the Ottoman navy underwent a change and transformation. This situation was reflected in the naval inventory, and the composition of the Ottoman navy was compared with European navies. Due to this method, which has not been tried before, it is possible to determine the numerical position of the Ottoman navy among European navies.
