Summary/Abstract: The article presents the changes taking place in the modern labour market as a resultof the digital revolution and the importance of artificial intelligence and its contribution toeducation. Attention was drawn to teachers’ competences, which are a determinant of workeffectiveness, and above all to the need to improve them in order to meet the challenges of thefuture.The theoretical considerations were supplemented by survey research conducted amongsecondary school teachers in the Radom region. The results showed a low self-assessmentof teachers in terms of digital competence and artificial intelligence. It is necessary to takea number of measures to improve the competences and preparation for the profession ofa modern teacher, which should be supplemented with basic knowledge of AI. All the moreso as the near future, due to the expansion of artificial intelligence, will require a change in theforms and organisation of the teaching-learning process.
