Summary/Abstract: The strategy of the Łódź local government involves improving the city’s image by promoting a number of festivals and presenting Łódź as a centre of creativity, art and fashion. The organization of Fashion Week fits into this strategy, therefore, the event has gained the support of the authorities. Unfortunately, the event has undergone festivalisation – the authorities promote it primarily as a mass event and as entertainment. Thus, it has ceased to perform its basic function as a trade event. Fashion Week Poland has been able to thrive thanks to its being promoted as a mass event by local authorities, but paradoxically, the continuation of this policy in the future will lead to the collapse of its meaning.
