Summary/Abstract: Language policy in Poland and Germany in comparison with France The present paper presents a comparative analysis of language policy (domestic language policy), as opposed to language politics, in Germany and Poland. The aims of language planning in the two countries will be discussed and the bodies responsible for their fulfillment indicated. Different styles of language policy stem from different historical backgrounds of the states being compared. France, where protection and concern for language are considered as an obligation of the state, serves as a counterexample. French bon usage is legally protected and the language institution of major importance is the Académie Française.
