Summary/Abstract: This article examines the relationship between the electoral legislation and the representation of women in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia in the period 1991-2006. The declaration of independence in November 1991 was chosen as the beginning of the study period, and for the end, the adoption in the country of the Electoral Code, which has been regulating the production of all types of elections for more than ten years. Attention is drawn to the results of the implementation of relevant laws in practice, with an emphasis on the exercise by women of passive suffrage in the state. The author comes to the conclusion that during the period under review, the Republic of Macedonia has made significant progress in increasing the number of women in the legislature.
