Summary/Abstract: The corpus of the present-day Lithuanian has attested to an increasing number of illative forms used in a variety of genres and has denied a persisting view that it is becoming extinct. Some books on the standardisation and language culture of Lithuanian allow some petrified forms of the illative in some styles; however, which forms should be considered petrified and hence within the norm of Lithuanian is not quite clear. Such problems could be dealt with much easier if the composition and usage tendencies of the illative case were discussed in more detail.
