Summary/Abstract: The paper sets out to examine adjectives with the suffix -iškas and their accentuation tendencies in terms of norms of grammar and actual usage. The absolute majority of these derivatives have preserved their stress on the same syllable as their derivational base. There are just a couple of words in Lithuanian that do not follow the above accentuation pattern. It is still discussed whether they should be considered exceptions. The words asmeniškas, -a, smulkmeniškas, -a, visuomeniškas, -a are discussed in more detail. They are the words that so frequently fail to follow the above accentuation pattern. There are theoretical and practical arguments provided that presently, when language users are still fully aware of the accentuation norm, the stress pattern asmẽniškas, asmẽniškai in standard Lithuanian should not be recommended. ẽ
